Some great design ideas

We've been searching for a good blog topic and since it's spring we were stuck. Do we cover great vacation getaways or gardening or outdoor activities? We decided on some bedroom design tips from Better Homes and Gardens. Since it is early spring, the weather can still be a tad finicky so why not get the inside of your home ready for spring! We found 10 bedroom design tips we'd like to share with you. We'll include the website for picture reference.

10. Use Color and Pattern to Create a Mood
The tip suggests to try different colors, not necessarily stay neutral. If you want to wake up cheerful they suggest something from the warm side of the color wheel, maybe bright yellow or red. You can add style with fabric and wallpaper. Toile and floral are suggested for a romantic feel while checks, plaids and stripes impose order.

9. Make the Headboard a Focal Point
A shaped and upholstered headboard draws the eye and can be comfortable to lean against. The article suggests using artwork above the headboard if the headboard is traditional. Canopies and curtains can create a feeling of luxury or privacy

8. Indulge in Beautiful Bedding
Remember: 100% cotton sheets will soften with washing and will let the body breathe. Cotton blends tend to wrinkle less, but according to the article won't be as soft or breathable. They recommend pima, Egyptian or Supima cotton.

7. Dress Windows for Privacy and Style
Window treatments can help dress the rooms overall style. The article states that swagged and gathered drapes communicate romance and elegance. Roman shades are tailored and sophisticated. Shutter convey casual cottage style.

6. Furnish for Comfort and Function
Identify the essentials. The article uses the following examples, if you have a built in closet a dresser may not be necessary and could make room for comfortable chairs or a chaise. If you have reading material before bed put a desk or table by the bed instead of the usual nightstand.

5. Plan for Good Bedroom Lighting
If you read in bed, reading lamps are essential. Lamp style sconces mounted to the wall in smaller bedrooms allows for a smaller bedside table.

4. Organize Your Closets
Organize clothing by season and color. Use a single type of hanger: wood or plastic.

3. Create a Master Suite
Use color, fabrics and motifs to unify connecting bedroom and bath spaces so they create a suite. Both spaces will feel larger as a result.

2. Create a Kid Style
Furnish a room so it can grow with the child. Invest in a bed, dresser, nightstand and desk with staying power. Use color themes and accessories that can change easily as the child grows.

1. Pamper Your Guests
To make guest feel welcome provide them with amenities that will make them feel like the space is their own.
